Graduation Casino Night
Parents of high school seniors have come to rely on the Rotary Club for providing a highly entertaining casino night as part of all-night graduation parties. Each year, after formal graduation ceremonies, parents of students organize a drug and alcohol free party to help keep their kids safe at a time when they might otherwise seek to party on their own.
As part of this, members of Rotary offer their time and energy to provide casino-like games including Black Jack, Beat the Dealer and Chuck-A-Luck. The students each begin the night with $2100 and have a chance to turn that into high stake winnings! They can then use their money at an auction of great gifts. The whole idea is to entertain the kids in an environment of fun, while keeping them off the streets and out of trouble on their graduation night.
Through the years, it is safe to estimate that thousands of kids have benefited from this fun and safe activity. Rotarians can feel good about their contributions to the safety and well being the new graduates-even if it means we need a couple days to catch up on our sleep!
